We arrived in Singapore during its rainy season so the harbour waters looked a little muddier than usual.
Ashe along Singapores waterfront walkway and enjoying the rain!
Singapores famous colonial-era Raffles Hotel -- not where we stayed.
The rains continued during our entire stay in Singapore City.
Most interesting to us was the diversity of neighbourhoods and cultures living in this compact city. Here, a view down Arab Street with large mosque at its end.
Another look at the mosque.
Not far from the Muslim quarter is the Hindu quarter. Here the Hindu temple tower both matches and clashes with one of downtowns skyscrapers.
A closer look at the Hindu temple tower.
Carvings on the temple.
And.. not far from both Arab Town and the Hindu quarter is Chinatown. Singapore offers great variety!
Chinatown facade.
Colorful facades and downtown skyline.
More interesting facades, leftovers from Singapores glamorous colonial days.
Interesting building (we didnt figure out what it is) brightly lit up at night.
Sinapores famous fountain with downtown skyline beyond.
Ashe talking with some friends we made on the docks waiting for our ferry to Tioman Island.
Malay lady at the docks.
Maciej on the ferry headed for Tioman Island.
We had to work to get to our favorite beach paradise : its a 1 hour hike over a hill and through dense jungle to get to the far side of Tioman Island.
Its well worth the hike across the island. This is what we found on the other side.
And this was our private hut right on the beach.
The most wonderful thing Juara Town on Tioman Island is not the scenery but rather that we didnt have to share it with anyone -- not a soul in sight !
Another view down Juaras beach.
Dense jungle surrounds the beach.
In front of the beach huts and taking it easy on Tioman.
This rocky section separates one bay and beach from another with the further beach being even more deserted and secluded than the first.
Another view down Juaras beach.
Just in front of our hut was this table at which we spent a good portion of our half week on Tioman.
Us looking happy and refreshed nearing the end of our half week on Tioman.
Cocunut lunch (a gift from our only neighbours during our entire stay on Tioman).
Cant get much better than this.
Well... maybe it can. Ashe looking especially beautiful one morning.
Us on the beach by our hammock.
One final look at our beach getaway on Tioman Island.
Ashe with beach flowers.
Ashe in the warm waters one last time.
Youngest salesman we came across selling batik on the beach.
To leave Juara and Tioman we had to do the jungle trek one more time.
Waiting for our bus to Kuala Lumpur in small town Malaysia.
Street scene in small town Malaysia.
The Petronas Towers -- perhaps Kuala Lumpurs most famous sight.
The old government buildings, another stunning sight in downtown Kuala Lumpur.
Not too busy streets, Chinatown. Kuala Lumpur, like Singapore, is an extremely diverse city with a great mix of Chinese, Malay, and Indian culture.
Streetside incense pot in Kuala Lumpur.
Bicycle taxi.
Jamek Mosque on a tiny island in downtown Kuala Lumpur.
Hindu temple in downtown Kuala Lumpur.
Another look at the Petronas Towers.
And one last look at the old government buildings.
