Bright and early the next morning, passing through Jacksonvilles historic center.
Bridges of Madison County? Not quite -- this ones somewhere in southern Oregon.
Crater Lake, Oregons only National Park, is a stunning place overlooked by many cross-country travelers.
Wizard Island sits near one bank of Crater Lake.
Crater Lake is just that : a lake inside a giant, dormant volcanic cone.
Crater Lakes waters are an incredibly perfect deep blue.
A more rugged stretch of the craters bank.

Even further in the distance : Mt.Jefferson. Apparently they had a tough time coming up with original Mount names in Oregon.

Another Portlander. Alright, this isnt an everyday scene. We caught the annual Flug Tag in downtown Portland, an event in which themed teams launch their makeshift flying objects into the river.
An easy side-trip from Portland : Mt.St.Helens.
A close up of Mt.St.Helens lava dome and crater.
Whereas the valley at the foot of Mt.St.Helens is grey and still, for the most part, lifeless, the neighbouring valley which was spared during the eruption is green and lush -- a stunning contrast.

My cousin Maria with her fiance Brian.
Maciej with Maya.
As soon as we reached the Oregon coast west of Portland we started to spot these signs along the coastal highway. As the highway dipped to sea level the sign would read Entering... and as the highway rose up a hill it would read Leaving....
